Take Me Away captures the dream like moment of this sailboat in Sandusky, Ohio — one of those moments that feels suspended in time. The sailboat, resting between water and sky, spoke to me immediately as an invitation rather than an object. An invitation to pause. To drift. To step away from everything loud and demanding.
The reflections of the water move gently across the surface of the boat, softening its edges and blurring what is solid with what is fluid. A light breeze carries through the piece, most tenderly expressed in the red banner floating effortlessly in the air — a subtle sign of movement, breath, and freedom.
This work held a profound sense of peace for me while creating it. It felt like an exhale — a reminder that serenity often lives in simple, passing moments if we are willing to notice them. I created Take Me Away as a place to mentally rest, and I am grateful that it has found a home where that same sense of calm can continue to live.
