The Walk

The Walk
24 × 16 inches | Sold

This work lives on wood by intention — grounded, enduring, and deeply human. The Walk is not about architecture or place, but about the inner passage each of us must take. It represents the solitary journey of the individual as we move forward toward spiritual awakening, awareness, and enlightenment.

In this moment, a single figure walks toward a sacred threshold. While the setting reflects one specific faith tradition, the meaning transcends religion. To me, this piece speaks to the universal act of becoming — the quiet courage it takes to keep moving forward, often without certainty, often alone.

There is also a subtle voyeuristic presence within the work. From this perspective, the viewer becomes a witness — a reminder that even in our most solitary moments, we are never truly unseen. Whether that presence is interpreted as another human, our own conscience, or an omniscient God is left open, intentionally so. Meaning lives in the space between what is visible and what is felt.

The layers applied by hand soften the surface while preserving the gravity of the moment, allowing the wood beneath to remain present — much like our own histories beneath our becoming. The epoxy seal does not encase the work; it protects it, honoring the journey rather than obscuring it.

My art is inseparable from my life. Born from a path marked by displacement, resilience, and hope, my work reflects a lifelong devotion to understanding the beauty and complexity of being human. I create not simply to be seen, but to inspire reflection, movement, and healing. The Walk carries that intention — and I am grateful it has found a home where its quiet power continues to speak.
